Meet our herd.

Horses and Farm Animals

  • Navar

Navar is the leader and protector of the herd, aware of and attentive to each member. He has really shown this year that he is quite gifted and interested in working in the children’s programs. Navar needs a shelter to protect him from rain and wind and will benefit greatly from the additional fencing.

  • Sara

Sara, the matriarch of our herd, holds this role with clarity and benevolence.  She is an experienced and loving mother to her son Makana. She is gentle and appreciative of the children who come to work with her in our programs. Sara’s special needs draw out extra loving care from children and adults alike.   Sara’s challenge is her health and stamina.  Sara needs ongoing support from our veterinary team and extra veterinary care.

She is a favorite in the children’s classes

  • Aguacero

Aquacero (Aguas) is the most amazing Uncle to yearlings Hoku and Makana.   Both youngsters have benefitted from his loving guidance as they learn how to be in relationships within the herd and with all the people who come to our farm. Aquacero is often the star of children’s classes, as he patiently shepherds all the children who share space with him.  Aquacero has been experiencing some pain and a degenerative ligament disease - the new fencing track and another set of protective boots will offer him exercise and more comfort.

  • Belleza

Belleza (pronounced “Beyesa”, nicknamed Bebe) is continuing to learn to be a mom, she is regal, loving, and gentle with her daughter Hōkūlani and enjoys working with children in the classes.  Belleza needs an extra fenced area to provide her with more exercise, which will benefit her overall health and weight management.

  • Hōkūlani

Hōkūlani, Belleza’s daughter, is growing in relationship skills too! Uncle Aguacero has taught her the lovely and endearing skill of mutual grooming. Her Aunt Sara has demonstrated the meaning of “no” which Hoku had never heard from her own mom! Hōkū is serious about learning all the things she can about being a member of the herd and coming to class with the students and visitors! The new track will provide movement to strengthen this growing girl.

  • Makana

Makana, Sara’s son, is such a gift of joy and friendliness.  He has recently been gelded and is beaming with happiness now that he can be with all of the horses - including his sister, his Auntie and his mom.    Makana has been a curious and fun loving boy since day one. He loves playing with his sister, his Uncle Aquacero and his dad Navar. The new track will offer him more space to run and play.

  • 'Ele Ele and Olive

‘Ele’ele was brought to the farm and soon after gave birth to her daughter Olive. They are well loved members of our Farm family.

  • Fiona

Fiona, our pig, was rescued when she was the size of a mango! She is a favorite at the farm. Here she receives her blessing from Kumu Kawehi

  • Ducks and Hens

We have been so delighted with the ducks and hens we have rescued. They are social and chatty and love when the children come.
