Our New Classroom

Make a difference

    A Permanent Classroom Space

The classroom space will be a clean and contained home for our classes, and provide shelter from sun and rain.

Our program is thoughtfully crafted to include time to build relationships with the animals, the ‘Aina and the plants. We strive to provide a balance of exciting, courage building activities as well as time and activities that are soothing and calming.  We begin with movement and a circle to gather together and get the Keiki grounded and connected in their bodies. The new classroom will provide a level and firm floor to engage in our movement and midline crossing exercises.  This preparation, movement and coming together is essential before we interact with the horses.  With a permanent classroom space we can comfortably offer more rotations and serve more Keiki.

The space will also be used to store our equipment in a clean and orderly way.  The students will be able to put their own gear away, learn everything has its space, and we all work together to care for the spaces we use.

At the end of each class we have an integration time where we sit side by side in silence, drawing, writing or working with clay.  This provides time and space to process and integrate the new experiences of the day.  The new classroom will enable this very important part of the program, sheltered and comfortably contained.

We invite the Keiki’s ‘Ohana for the last class of each series, so the Keiki can share some of what they’ve learned and accomplished.  The classroom will offer the ‘Ohana a safe and comfortable space to observe and appreciate what the Keiki share.

Our Keiki program and the caring for the ‘aina, animals and classes, requires a large number of volunteers.  We will utilize the classroom space for our comprehensive volunteer training.

We will also be able to utilize the classroom space for upcoming Kūpuna classes and other educational and community gatherings.
